Soup Sunsets (NaPoWriMo – 12th April)

A little summer water and
the mix of broken hearts
make a soup sunset.

When memories begin to form,
it is stirred in order to remove the past-
Days of desert romances and
Pictures flowing like mayonaisse in scrambled eggs.

Add instant film.
Do not overexpose the memory
as nothing will come of it.
Only a white film.
White, like the sky during my flight;
The sky where you went with him.
Will come out.

Continue to stir until the film develops.
Until the memory becomes visible.
Faded along the edges.

Serve it along with a slice of graphic shirts
That she’ll never receive.
Because the recipe is only good for one serving.
